When using the brush tool on a terrain , it seems to melt the terrain. Before using the brush tool the terrain is nice and detailed in the 2d view , after using the brush the terrain gets smoothed . I may be doing something wrong but I don't remember GeoControl acting like this.

1.Open Geocontrol, there should be the default terrain in the 2d view.
2.Select the Brush tool and paint a stroke on the terrain.

See attached image for what the terrain looks like before and after the brushstroke.

again: the brush is no more developed, I am just curious, that it does not crash.

I had no idea that after reading the other post that you were getting rid of the brush tool entirely and replacing it with the iso-lines tool. Interestingly enough the program did not crash the entire time i was using the brush tool.

the brush is not connected to the selcetions, when drawing, but when generating.
The greatest problems with the brush:
Every new feature needs about the double upt to triple time for implementation with the brush. Also, it never does work, as I wanted it to work. Great problems, when heightcorrection was used or very powerful shape filters.

The iso tool uses in general the same technic, but in opposite to the brush, it does not produce a single correction in one level, but in all level, the area spans (low to high area). And the greatest advantage of the iso tool:
I can build several classical tools, like move for example, which allows to move an isoline, and make so, at least, the generation much more comfortable.

The disadvantage (for isolines) is, that the brush was able to define different filter settings to different parts. But this also does not really work comfortable. After using the brush for applying different filtes, you run into problems, when you push the generate button. The flowmaps were not perfect, but showed borders. You could not save the brush actions, but you were forced to save the project.

Another example:
Try to build a crater with the brush. You run crazy, it is not really possible. Or a dune, no chance.
Try this with the iso tools. I had no problems for both. The crater was easy to define, and the control about the look is impressive. Also a dune, with a low sloped and a high sloped side, was no problem.
Together with painted selections and the filters and the other selections, nearly everthing will be possible.
I am now developing the basic functions, to make them comfortable, and to get the isolines look better.
I will use the isolines for creating landscapes for a teaser of a sci-fi, and there I will see fast, what is good working and what not, and so I am sure, for release the isolines will work very powerful and easy to use.

The more i use the iso-lines, the more i like this feature.

that is great to here. When I introduced the brush in version 1, only a few liked it.
