Here using Cinema 4D, is a rough test. I'm hoping for slope angle dependent shaders while also trying some height dependent ones. This is a polygon object with 2 textures (shaders) on it. The first one uses a normal map overall set relatively low strength. The second one uses the same normal map set very high – 5 times as high - and works on only the alpha portion of the image – the alpha was set using a heightfield bitmap and colored and textured and “bumped” for the lower and greener portions of the valley. The 2 normal maps in conjunction with one alpha image overlayed work pretty well together it seems. But I guess this could have been made in GC1.3.

It seems that the heights can be tweaked and adjusted somewhat in the render software. Now to try to get something for the slope angle dependency. I would like for the relatively flat areas to have growth showing and the slopes to be rocky. Thats something that you folks with any other software can get without a sweat! Any suggestions would be very helpful. I tried the flow maps in various ways, but nothing seems to work very well for me yet. C4D really does resist good terrain images.

Thanks,
vim

That looks great, it looks better then anything i can do in Vue 6 right now.

for C4D this looks fantastic.
For the slope depended texture:
Simply add a selection in the selection panel. Then check in the "slope" panel the "enable slope", make the settings for the slope, push "create" (you get a view of the selection in the main 2D view) and then you can export the selection with the export button on the selection panel as greyscale image.
The selection must not have been used for the generation.

The flowmaps are only for the alphachannel of a shader.

OK Thanks Johannes. I think I may finally get what you are saying this time. Regret that I am so dense about it so far. Thanks again and I'll try this just as soon as I have the time.
Best to you all,

Edited: Hi Johanenes, I had the time to look into this and it seems really an excellent feature! I have not yet checked it out on Cinema, but it looks perfect and I am really excited to try this just as soon as I have the time. Just one question - can you add a little info about the features on the 'Enable slope' panel? Like how are they affected with add subtract and average and fuzzi? Probably can figure this out in time but a little help here would be appreciated.

Thanks once again,
