As I said in last post, I'm still learning what GC is supposed to do, so I'm not sure if this is intended behaviour.

1) Generate 1024px terrain using "Calm Canyons" preset (left hand picture)
2) Use "Cut" function with a size of 256 (cut area highlighted)
3) Click "Generate" again and the resulting terrain looks strange. (right hand picture). Unchecking "Keep Seed" and "Seamless" and then "Generate" gives a very similar image.

What is the expected behaviour under these circumstances?

Of course, that is not, how it is supposed to be.
During developement it happens, that older functions do not work properly, because they are not yet integrated.
I will have a look.

Now I see, what you had done. The cut works well, but after the cut you push generate.
To understand, what had happend, you must understand the levels in GC. You find something about the levels in the help.
The cut is based on a specific level of the basic terrain. Just set the slider "Protect terrain up to level" to the highest level (before you push generate) and you can add erosion and so on. Then lower the setting of the protection slider and see, what is happening.
