The peak.gts file is hanging up GeoControl when low settings are used for Zoom and Distance in the Camera controls.

Steps to Reproduce:

Load TerrainSettings > peak.gts
Find and load the textures asked for (red_desert.bmp and cool3.bmp)
Generate the terrain.
Click on Render > Camera
Set Zoom to minimum
Set Distance to minimum
Click Render.

The process hangs with the CPU at 100%. To exit, GeoControl must be shut down with Alt+F4.

I'm seeing this on an 850 MHz Athalon with 768 MB RAM.
I'll try this later on with my newer XP machines. If it behaves differently, I'll post it in here.

It's my experience that loading any of the textures/colours causes build 12 to hang for a few seconds during the rendering, CPU is at 100% and the machine is not responding.
Machines: 2800 Athlon, 1,5 GB RAM and 3000 Athlon , 1,5 GB RAM.

Hi Andy,

It sounds like the hang you're seeing might be related to this, though this doesn't clear itself up. I gave it a couple of minutes before giving up and closing the program.

I also tried this on my 2 GHz P4 XP laptop with 1 GB RAM and the same thing is happening there.

That are two different situations:
GC can frease with some extrem camera settings, and you have to shut it down.

The second case, a short delay when rendering, is due some caculations before rendering, where no informations are shown, what GC is actually doing.
The rendering needs some speed improvements and some informations more in the status bar.
