Hi, i found your site and like the looks of your terrains generator.
I've a couple idiot questions however.
Firstly: it would be my goal to use a program like this to export to 3ds file, so that i could import into 3d max or Sketchup and eventually, Vue.
Is this possible?
i don't see 3ds as an export option.

Hi,
3DS is a really bad import/export choice, becaus it is limited to 64K. That would mean, that for the import of a 256*256 terrain, the terrain has to be tiled.
So the better choice is to use the obj export/import, what is no problem with GC1. You also need the normal map, to get more details. But the normal maps in GC1 are not the best, GC2 maps are really fantastic.
For Vue in version1 the best format is TGA. This delivers the full 16bit quality of the terrain to Vue.
ok, but you see, there's this really handy tool in sketchup for "stamping" a footprint of a building or for creating a road.
And that's what im trying to accomplish.
Modeling realistic terrain and carving out a road and building footprints.

I do not know much about sketch up. Is sketchup not able to import a obj file?
