I've posted a few renders of the Anduin Vale- ME-DEM's current working model. This model is fully hydrologically sound- ie water will transport from mountain to sea- or in this case the river Anduin which runs through this.
I tried a different tack with this one. I first set up GC to establish the initial flow
using Thin Flows. This produced a river network flowing about a third across the foothills.
I then used the isoline tool to extend these as rivers to the Anduin. It worked pretty well
:)
I didn't use the Spring tool in this one. The terrain is vertically exaggerated.

The renderer is shaping up as a very capable renderer- thanks to Johannes for such a
splendid modeller *and* renderer. ;)

Apologies for the size of these. I hope it's OK to link to to these pics Johannes. They're on the ME-DEM ftp but this post is exclusive to GeoControl forums.

Great work.
I mostly like the single moutain group. The shape is awesome.
At all this looks most natural and convincing. Well, may be the blue water course is a bit wide. But I think, it is not the river but the complete river bed blue.

Thanks Johannes :) Hmm, shading the river was a bit of an afterthought really. I agree, it's too wide!

I noticed that the foot of the mountain came tpo far south and obliterated the access that runs along the Anduin to Minas Tirith, so I created a path with an iso- took about 3 mins!

Here's a first attempt at a switchback mountain pass- this one leads up to an interesting site- maybe a beacon hill?

Looks convincing.

Beside the river tool (now spring tool) the road tool (from highways to small paths) is a fix feature for GC2. It is one of the core features, which I will implement before all other additional features.
