Well, here is a lake test of mine done in Vue 6 which did not turn out as good as i wanted. Then Vue crashed on me just by clicking on the terrain window. :/

Forget about Terragen 2. It takes 20 steps to get somewhere were as it's easier in any other app it seems. As much as i like Terragen and it's sub-pixel details and easy to manage displacement, it's just to complicated right now for masking. Vue crashes and Carrara lacks good lighting, clouds and skies but Carrara is a faster renderer though.

I don't think i can find a renderer that suits me well. :(

Well, for me the same. That was the reason for my unpatience in the terragen forum. At time there seems to be no software, which can handle terrains, water and atmosphere as it should be.
I am still hoping for an update of TG2.

I am hoping for an update as well. I am just so eager to show these wonderful terrains from GeoControl.

Hi Criss - I would like to experiment with your terrain and TG2. I have been using it and getting good results.

Do you mind sending your terrain to me ?

Thanks, Neon22

Well,

I agree to some point - as I am working on a better integration of terrains into TG2.
So lets wait what the day brings.
I#ve noticed a thead by BigBen on the TG2 forum for aligning heightfields. This might be interesting, too.

The other point is that I managed a workaround for fake water transparency in TG2.
Else it would be about 3 to 4 months for TG2 to manage transparancy officialy.

That workaround sounds very interesting. Do you have a tut?

It is not a tutorial.
It is something I made for procedural terrains, but should work with heightfield, too.
I just need to get knowledge what the output of TG2's 'Heightfield load' has ... vectors or luminosity.
Here is a link to the thread: Terragen Forum (http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=2188.msg21304#msg21304)

Great use of nodes!!

If the output of the Heightfield load is a vector, there is a function node called 'Length to scalar'.
This should be used instead of the 'Luminance to scalar'-node.
