hi,

First i want to congrate you for this very good tool.

Now my problems :)

I am using the demo version 1.13

1) I generated a presetted map and i used the usefull "cut" brush.
1a) If one of the brush borders is out the map, the application crash when i click the mouse. i.e. : my map is 1024x1024, my cut brush is 256x256 and my mouse position is x:120, y:128 -> the right border is out of the map ( somewhere in the negative coordinates ;) )
1b) After cutted a part of the map, the result has a strange default in his bottom border. Look at this image -> http://picasaweb.google.fr/derchoff/GeoControl/photo?authkey=whvTMypfFk4#5086229862248237410. Exporting this image in a raw format and using it to generate a terrain mesh will generate annoying default in the mesh : an undesired wall.

2) I want to import terrain's heigtmap in another tool. In GeoControl all seems fine, but in the other tool slopes are harder. mountains are higher, distances seems lost etc ... I think this is an units problem. Using the cut brush the result is not better. I can not found a correct brush size. Could you help me please ? do you have any units informations ? To help you, the target tool has the following properties : a 1024x1024 heightmap is around a 1 872metersx1 872meters in real life.

Thank you for the help.

1)
What preset did you use? Some filters produce problems with a cut operation.

Are you using Vista? The problem with the crash did not show so far.

2)
That is a general problem. If it is not possible to change the height in the final application, use the "height correction" filter. This will also change the span of the exported terrain.

I used the Terrain preset : Erosion->Island with cliffs. Is there a solution to correct/remove those points ?

No, i am using a Windows XP ... trying it again today, it doesn't occur any more :!:. Yesterday i repeated it often. I did a lot of operation today to try to reproduce this problem, sorry, i can not say you the way.

Oh, that is a strange thing.
You are right, if you use the preset and the cut that, you get those borders.
I had tried to find out, what is causing this and well, no matter what filter is disabled, all cutted terrains have this ugly border.
Then I tried to rebuild the preset, hand by hand, and put the values new per hand into the fields, and it worked without those ugly borders.
So, there must be something wrong in this special presets. The presets were created during the developement of GC1, and this preset was an early one, and so, a bug of the alpha might has gone through this preset into the final.
So as solution: Rebuild the settings by hand, you can start GC twice and more, and swith between the two.
Sorry for that trouble.
