Hello. First off, your terrain generator is the first I've seen that can accurately reproduce geologically correct landscapes. Thank you for your outstanding work.

I've been having some issues with the brush that no one else seems to be having. When I use the brush, the raise/lower function doesn't work the way it should. I can have the brush set to raise at full power, and instead of making a mountain I make a deep pit. Other times, it raises the terrain instead of lowering it. It seems to depend on where on the map I click. If a raise brush is used on some parts, it works correctly. On other parts, it lowers the terrain. Am I doing something wrong here? It doesn't seem to matter what terrain presets the brush is using. Even the default brush shows this random behavior. It seems to happen more often when the brush type is set to round, but I use round the most so maybe that's why it seems that way. This is very irritating. I've ended up destroying some nearly perfect terrains because the brush suddenly did the opposite of what I expected it to do.

I run Windows XP with version 1.13.

Thanks.

Never heard of this behavior. But the brush is a bit tricky. Such problems can show up, if you use the brush intensive and you have brushed some parts, then encrease the size of the brush and then use it again.
There is a strong rule: Always first draw with the great size, then reduce the size of the brush. Never draw over a brushed area with a greater brush, than the smallest brush size, that was used in this area, else the brush will destroy all the work done before.

This was exactly what I was about to suggest, when I first tried it out that effect confused me at first until I realized what was going on with the whole level thing. It definitely sounds like the problem he's having.

Interestingly, that "feature" can be used to create some interesting terrain effects which would be slightly more difficult through conventional means.
