This build now introduces a new workflow:
1. Generation
2. Postwork
1. The generation section contains the panels "General", "Isolines" and "Filter".
That are the wellknown panels for the dynamic terrain generation.
You should use them for the generation process up to level 512 or 1024
2. The Postwork section contains at time the panel "PW Filter" and "River and lakes" .
You can add to the pw filter list mostly the same filters as in the normal filter panel, but some are not available like "Zero edges", while additional filters are here, at time "River and lakes".
To enbale the "River and lakes" panel, you must first add a "River and lakes" filter ("Special tools").
That first means, that now more than one "River and lake" can be used.
The main difference between the postwork and the normal filters is the generation. Pushing the "Generate" button always creates the whole terrain new.
After pushing the "Do Postwork" button, (it is shown, when the "Post work" panel is selected) GC looks first, if there a setting for a filter in the pw section has changed. The generation starts then with this filter. So, a before created erosion for example, will not be caculated again. This will save much time and make much for fun to experiment with different filters and erosions.
If you push the "Next Level" button, the terrain size is doubled, and the terrain enlarged, using the filters in the "Generation" section. Afterwards you can add filters to the pw section and so on. You can also step back, using the "Previous Level" button. Then GC goes back to the settings of the before level and shows the "Pw-filter" for this level. The terrain is shown in the status after applying all pw filters. If you then go to the next level again, the level has to be created new.
The pw filters are added as "pw group" to the "generation" filter list. You can not select a pw-group, to see the pw group filter settings. You must use the "Previous" and "Next" buttons.
I hope that this new workflow will help to concentrate more to a specific level, and will enable the user, to do more experiments and get the full power of the dynamic level creation.
Added
Filter (the small "F" button)
A graphical well known filter curve. Simply draw with the mouse. The filter curve decides, how a selection is weighted. You'll find the "F"-button beside all filterselections, in the "Height displacment" beside the "Selection" for the height displacement and in the "Height filter"
Height filter
A new filter, for drawing the height in a filter curve. Great for creating terraced landscapes, with much more control than the terrace filters
Improvements:
River and lakes
The flowmap is improved, the lakes are now with deepness shown, even the underwater flows of the incoming flows are visible. Use the "Springs" map in the color channel for blending (two colours or a gradient) and the "Spring mask" for the distribution.
The rivers do not longer stop, before they reach the lake, if the water level is lowered.
"Generate", "Do Postwork" and "Render" are now one button. I had often pushed generate instead of render, what was not so nice. So, now, depending on the selected panel, the button has the according function.
disble/enable filter
After disabling a filter simply use again the "disable/enable" menu (change) to restore the filter settings
River and lake deepness now allows lower value for deepness
Switched the color order in the render panel: Now the first color represents the low values of the used selection and the second the high values, which imho is more intuitive
"Add noise" improved: The noise is now more similar to the "noisy" noise type. Try it!
Bug fixes:
GC hanged, when after a preset was loaded a filter was removed
When the filter presets were used, the noise power was reduced with every change
Normal map: Now works correct and export it!!
When last selector was removed, GC crashedDownloadlink:
