Hi Johannes.

I've noticed that when i add an Erosion System filter, in Selectors list appears a filter with similar name (i suppose that this is a normal behaviour). But when i remove filter from Generation Filters list, selection isn't removed.

Similar behaviour happens when i add a Postwork filters:
1) If i click Do Postwork, appears a <dimension> pw-group in Generation Filters list; but when i delete Postwork filter, <dimension> pw-group isn't removed
2) Besides, when i add River and lake Postwork filter, appears 2 selections mask (<dimension> Selection and <dimension> Selection_mask); but when i delete River and mask filter <dimension> Selection and <dimension> Selection_mask aren't removed

Yes, that is correct.
So, you can use for example an erosion filter to produce a flowmap and then delete the filter but keep the mask. So it is supposed to be. You can always delete unused selections manual.

Maybe could be more useful that this is a swithcable preference, because if i forget to delete unused selections, final result could affected.

No, that has no effect to the final results.
I can see here at most images, that the users of GC simply still not have found the power of flowmaps, of course also the WM users, which has also nice flowmaps.
You can use them with the discplacement filters, as selection for other filters, but most important, for shading/texturing.
You will also see, that if you work in the pw section, for every level a separated flowmap is created, so you will have at least flowmaps from 1024 to 4096 size, but all are resized to the final size, so all can be used for the final shading.

I think, it is better to learn how to use them, than to do a feature request to delete them automatically. For me it is curious that a real engaged middle earth world creater is asking for cutting a powerful feature, I would expect that from a newbie.

Well, Johannes. Keep in mind that i'm a GC newbie. Actually i've deeply experienced other tools like Leveller and L3DT that have different approaches. And, naturally, my Middle Earth modeling experience is based on months (with L3DT about one year) usage of them. So keep patience. I've read GC1 help (that is present into GC2); but new features of GC2 (up to build 17) aren't documented. I'm trying to follow hints that are wrote in these threads by you and by other alphatester that, conversely of me, are more experienced of GC1 and GC2 (because have started to test it months before me).
Besides, i didn't asked to you to cut anything; only to leave choice to users to disable/enable this one feature, that is very powerful, but for GC2 newbie like me could disconcert:
could be more useful that this is a swithcable preference

Sorry, that was nonesense, the comment by me.
The opposite is more true: It is always better you say, what you think.

No problem Johannes. ;)
I think that this community has the purpose of improve this amazing tool, but also to match peoples that have different cultures, experiences and skills. I ever thought that this is the way to grow together: always listen that what the other have to say, and try to understand his point of view; perhaps, at the end, everyone stands of own opinion, but probably each one is grewn a little.

I like your perspective of growing!!

Well, how about a compromise to please everybody?

@ Cajomi: How about adding a the option to deleting the selection automatically but implementing a button to activate or deactivate the option?
This way everybody can work as he likes.

Every additonal option makes it more difficult to use a software, this would not really help. And I think, mauronen has feared, that there might appear a disfunction, what does not.
And of course, as software developer, never try to fullfill all wishes of the users. You will end in an desaster.
But there will be a button to simply delete all unused selections.

Clearly, Johannes, at the beginning i though that this could be a bug (i've opened this thread...) but after our explanation i've understood the this is a choice.
However, a button that removes unused selection is a good solution.

Well, that sounds like the compromise I was talking about.
Great.
