A word of warning to anyone wanting to try this. Do not draw a steep and complex clamped terrain profile in the height filter and then add rivers afterwards. The river tool will go nuts when trying to create the water channels for all of those crazy tight canyon-like formations. I waited and waited until i had to bring up the task bar in order to shut the program down as it became stuck. It seems that if i draw more simple clamped profiles with using the river tool there is much less of a issue so keep this in mind.

My latest image in the GeoControl 2 Gallery is an example of a simplified clamped terrain with rivers.

Thanks for the heads up!

Well, the amount of lakes and there size (not the deepness) has the greatest influence to the calculation time. In general it is simple: If it would be simple to get a great water part with a simple plain, use it and not the river and lake tool. It is for the complex solutions.
In your example you create mostly not rivers but lakes, all the inverted height parts, and this lakes are really large.

Right, i was just trying some crazy experiments more then anything pushing the software a bit. What i should have done was just add some deep fluvial channels rather then using rivers and lakes for my render. That would have been good enough for that image. :)
