I was referred to this product by the site owner of Terra Nuts. What I need is a landscape generator that I can create rivers and have mountains in the distance with flat farm land, that sort of thing. I have Maya 6.5, Rhino 3.0, PhotoShop 7.0 Deep Paint 3D and Ultimate Unwrap 3D.

I made a mistake and bought Bryce. Its a bolean (sp) program and what's created in Bryce stays in Bryce. Will this program do the job for me? I'll probably "save as" an .obj file and paint it in DP 3D then import into Maya for the rendering. Maya can animate, create smoke emitters for ships, aircraft props turning, all of that stuff. I just need a good terrain generator that I can fine tune a bit. You can't animate in this program like Vue 6 can you? What about clouds?

GeoControl is only for generating the landscapes, some texture maps and alpha masks. GeoControl is able to create such a terrain.

But the question is, in what quality can maya inport the terrains? If you use obj, the quality is relative low, because obj need a lot of memory, which limits the terrains to max 512*512 resolution. GeoControl can also export normal maps to add details to the terrain. But can maya 6.5 read normal maps?

What would be "normal" map extensions. I also have Deep Exploration a file conversion and will convert most any nurb or polygon shape from file type to file type.

A normal map is a 24bit colour bmp, which contains informations about the orientation of the surface normal.
