Im trying to match a terrain to a sat image....
I was wondering if Geocontrol 1 or geocontrol2 in beta form is the better choice...
Im doing alot of stuff in other areas like 3d modeling object and coding so I am not a Geocontrol expert by any means..

Here is a link to the EXACT map-proportions.. my final sat image is 10240pixels x 10240 pixels... but this is 1024 x 1024

Well, all I can say is, that I always have problems to translate a sat image into a heightfield.
In Google you can now also get "terrain" image, which shows much clearer the altitudes.

Well I started to watch the video tutorials and must say I think I will be able to get something close. I still have alot to learn in order to get the effect I want without messing up previous work. In the picture I provided, its enouugh if i can get the raised areas with sharp slopes so when driving tanks or other ground vehicles it really appears to have the slope visible. The STRM DEM file I have of the exact terrain is really gradual and seems flat almost.
