Hello,

I recently purchased my V2-build 36 upgrade and I am still having a problem with UAC. Whenever I run GeoControl2 I am asked to supply my admin password. I've tried changing all the rights to my user profile and even assigned ownership of the app to my user profile but the UAC box still pops up. Any suggestions from anyone?

By the way - thank-you Johannes for letting me/us pay for your amazing application (even if it is still a work in progress). Work that great deserves to be rewarded.

Hi Michael

retry the installation and make attention to use your right name (Michael Grant) and key (who I send you).

Thanks for your reply.

I think I did the installation properly. After installation when I first launched GC2 it asked for my name and registration key. Now whenever I launch GC2, it asks me for my admin password then I get the splash screen with my name: Michael Grant and my registration key. And the app then starts. Again this is not a big problem but the fact that I cannot get around it has me frustrated. Its definitely Vista problem but I hoped that maybe someone else had encountered it.

I solved my UAC problems by... disabling UAC! See http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm.

Messages are NOT a problem of Vista, they are the problem of programmers all around the world having ignored for years (since NT 3.5) recommendations about file locations, directory names etc. etc. For example, Visual Studio Express apps do not raise to any warning, even with UAC on...

Bye!!!

alexcoppo,

I may yet try disabling UAC. What I can't understand is that my user account has COMPLETE ownership (all rights and ownership) for GC2 and I still get asked for my admin password. That should fix it but it does not. Makes no sense. Thanks for the help.
