Hello, I just started checking out GeoControl2 and saw that you can click "Do Postwork" to create a 2D overhead bitmap that contains all the coloring for the terrain.
However, I was wondering if it is also possible to add the lighting information into this bitmap?
Thanks!

that's cool... thanks for answering... I have been using the 31 day trial to make heightmaps for modding BF2/2142... exporting the greyscale heightmap at 1024x1024
and the 4096x4096 colormap and chopping it up so it works for the game... very cool program... I'm gonna make some terrains and use the games helicopters to make some cool terrain flyover vids...
hope Santa gets the full version for me for Christmas...haha
I am also a moderator on a game modding site and have posted a link to this site...
bfeditor website...
now everyone will have amazing game terrain...lol

If you don't mind doing it in another program, you can always run it though another 3D application to bake lighting onto the textures.

that's cool... I use the game editor to do the terrain lightmaps for my game levels
and 3dmax to do the lightmaps for the static objects(models)... can't do the terrain in max because of the high polycount... would make my comp explode...lol

You could still do it in Max. Lightmaps don't need to be super XXX quality, so you could always import the height map onto a much lower poly representation of your terrain. Just a thought anyways.

that's true.... hadn't thought of that... will experiment...thanks...
