Hello all, just pointing you to some new terrain shots here:
http://me-dem.ashundar.com/component/option,com_zoom/Itemid,32/catid,2/PageNo,3/
It's the firtst time I've used GeoControl to build anything but I've found it extremely useful for certain things. It's a great app!
I didn't create the entire terrain within GeoControl but I have used it extensively for the filters and brush. I used a soft rocks filter to create the limestone of the plateau, and a modified mountain filter to get the limestone look of the mountains. I used another more subtle brush on the mountain at the end of the range (Carn Dum). This is an igneous protrusion.
The area details an 80 Km square area of Tolkien's Middle Earth: the Nan Angmar and Carn Dum. The terrain is at 20m resolution and sits within a much larger map. The Carn Dum site was modelled previously and merged with the surrounding area.
At the moment the terrain has no erosion applied to it. The next shots should illustrate some of GeoControl's erosion.
Also, you can find more shots of the terrain rendered in Terragen in the gallery :)
Cheers,
monks
