Hello...

I noticed that the dynamic brush is a squared-off shape and was thinking it might make more sense for it to be a soft circular with the terrain effects feathering out like an airbrush... i used to take hieghtfield patterns and save them as brush presets within Photoshop to paint non-relief grey-scale terrains and i had always used a circular smooth fall-off with the terrain pattern... but this was long before i ever bought GeoControl.

Also when i paint with the brush i get artifacting along the edges of the brush representing that square shape... am i doing something wrong here???

Hi Cristi,
Use blending brush to avoid artifacts. The brush will be slow but more effective.

Also don't crank up the power on the brush all the way. Some filters are more prone to the square artifacts. If you keep the power set lower, most of the time the artifacts won't show up. I wouldn't wait for a round brush, I think it must be square to work as it does.

hmmm... i did use the blending brush but the artifacts would still come up... also the power was low as well... am i missing something else here??? :?

Hi Criss,
best before to use the brush is to read the help files, those about the Dynamic Level Generation and about the Brush.

This brush is totally different to the postwork brushes, so it needs some pratice, to get the expected results with it.

I was reading up on the help files... have to read some more, heh,heh... but this was using the demo as well... can not use the full version i bought yet due to the wrong code issue were all having... but no worries... once the right code is in i will get back to figuring that brush out... don't get me wrong this brush is just neat to say the least and very true it takes practice to get used to it................

Hello
Ihave just purchased the full bersion, and I have problems with thebrush as well..The square shape is not easy to handle and doesn't seem to allow fine "tuning" of the surface. Maybe it would be good to have also a "paint" style brush that wuld allow for more subtle effects.
Other than that, the program is great!

Hello sandpiper6, and welcome!
The best is you read the chapter "Working with the brush" in the help.
Most problems occur, because of the unusual power of the brush. Mostly smaller brush size need a reduced power, 10 or lower and often a control in the 3D preview.

Sometimes it helps just to push the generate button again when squared brush marks appear. The squared edges disappear in most cases.

I find that using many different sizes of brushes makes more sense.

us a 256 or 512 size for rough work, then smaller sizes as you need to get more detialed. And of course - zoom in as needed

yes, that is the basic method, you are absolutly right. Strongly recommended.
But digitalis is also right: Do not forget to generate in between, the results are better then.
