Wow, compared to way back when I first found this site and was checking out some of the few tutorials that were here at that time, I thought to myself, this thing just looks far too complicated to ever figure out!
But now, I already am almost fully understanding all about how to work with those very same level sliders that once frightened me before! Hahahaha LOL

I have the into tutorial running, where I can pause it, back it up a bit and view something over and at the same time I have the program opened and I have to say, this is a great working learning method and now I find those big bad scary levelers not scary at all and am actually making them do what "I" want and not just trying things to see what I get and hope it turns out ok, I actually can have a fairly good idea of what to expect now!

This thing is awesome and I've only barely scratched the surface of this awesome program and can't wait to start really creating some postable images I'll be making soon enough :)

Thanx Johannes, for such a fun program!
I can already see what I'll be doing this whole weekend, hehehe, playin terrains for the next 3 days straight ;)

Mark,
Glad to hear that you're having so much fun. The levels feature is fantastic and gives the sort of control that you just can't get with other software. Combined with layers of isolines and filters you can create some impressive landscapes. My other favourite feature is the selector feature which is great for creating distribution maps for applying textures in Vue but can also be used to mask filters so that they only get applied to certain parts of the terrain.

Vue is still miles away from being able to do this so I tend to use GC2 for most of the terrains I use in Vue.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Regards,

Plotinus

Well, I totally concur and also have to say, that later on, after I've really learned this program good (and I see that happening a lot sooner then I ever initially imagined, just like when I first got Vue and was creating right off the bat in a completely foreign interface) that I can see me making some really nice new tutorials for everyone.
I love making tuts and this program will be a great, fun challenge for me.
I can show people how to create the types of terrains that I like to create, which are almost all desert style places :)

Now, where's my eye drops again....?

Hmm... did someone edit out something I wrote bellow?
Looks cut up to me for some odd reason and I don't recall what might of been said there either?

Well, finished the first of the ISO tuts and now have an even better understanding of the levels and how they relate to ISOs as well as how the grid helps you to better understand how all of these things work together to help you create more of what you really want, instead of what you randomly want or get? LOL

Even though each tutorial so far has had some variations of the interface, I still have been able to follow along quite nicely with everything and now can safely say I am ready to move to part two of the ISO tutorial :)

Can't wait to get started!
My little island worked just like how he said it would, if you followed what he was telling you how things all worked and the grid and level counts.
All makes total sense :)

thanx....................................md :)

I'm having the same experience with this. I thought it looked intimidating but found it easy in the end.

Any Tut's would be wonderful. Trial and error is cool too though. All those happy accidents.
