Ok, I hope that the creator of this program realizes that once a poor sap, like myself, starts to playing with this program, that they basically have ended all communication with actual real life people, you do understand this, right? LOL
I am now sooo addicted to this thing I can't seem to walk away from the program, even though my eyeballs are burning out of their sockets! LOL
And then, the more I find I can do, that just makes matters worse, since then I want to go down yet "another" path of adventure to see what all I can do with some other tool, or even worse, combinations of "different" tools!
I hope you are happy with yourself?
My poor cat thinks something is wrong with me, since I haven't moved in hours now.
My neighbors wonder where I've been for the past couple days hahahaha
And the worst part of this addiction is, I'm actually "learning" something, but not just any old things, I'm figuring out how to create what "I" want to create, and not what some program forces me to create, wowsers!
I mean, ME learning a NEW program???? Ahhh hahahaha LOL
Sorry, just had to stop for five seconds and post just how thrilled I am with this thing!
Can't wait to start moving into the coloring and all, as so far I have just been playing with the terrain features for the construction of the shapes and forms and nothing else much yet.
I'm just very methodical I guess hehehe
OH!
And I'm actually starting to find some methods for making those cliffs I posted about in another thread, too!
Cool!

Mark,
Don't forget to get some sleep. GC2 is fun though. Particularly if you have previously struggled to get Vue (a great program in all other respects) to produce the sort of terrain you want. I'm looking forward to seeing what you're producing.

Ohh, yeah, you hit it right on the head about the differences there from Vue to this.
I love my Vue more then anything I ouwn, but as far as I am concerned, this GC2 program will be my main terrain generating program for a very very long time, and I really don't think Vue now should put all that much efforts into the TE in Vue anymore, since this thing already is sooo many miles ahead, I think they would be better off dealing with other great features that could be broungt into the TE, things that would "help" with people bringing in things from 3rd party programmers, such as would be the same thing like with how people make their own 3D apps able to make use of what Z-Brush puts out, Vue should maybe think along those lines too and maybe save some headaches along the way too :)
Though obviously, some more features in the TE will always be created with joy, just sayin is all ;)
And yep, finally barely got in some decent sleep last night, but not by choice, but because I was exhuasted hahahaha
And then having to take time away to deal with the neibor's puter, kinda blew off most of today, but it's all done, I'm glad, they're glad, and I get to play again hehe
Currently going through part 2 of the Isolines tut, the second half of that one.
When I watch him work, I try to imagine how "I" would make use of the very same techniques he uses and I am coming up with quite a few so far.

Vue's terrain editor seems a step backward from Bryce's. I've used Bryce's terrain editor for making 3D game maps. Vue's terrain editor is more like playdoh and for modeling diorama style terrain.
Working with GeoControl2 terrain is like looking down at real terrain from an airplane. And importing it into Vue only makes rendered Vue scenes that more realistic.

Well, I've been away from this program for many weeks now, busy on other projects going on, but those are all about to come to end, so I can get back to my plans and hopefully enjoy myself and also hope I haven't forgotten everything? hehehe

GeoControl 2 is really an amazing program. They are some rough edges, agreed (camera controls) but the power it offers and the quality of the result produced are simply amazing, I don't think anything compare to it. When getting my copy of xStream 8, I decided to watch again the tutorials made by Cajomi and it allowed me to discover things I hadn't noticed before and made the usage even more enjoyable if possible :).
Thank you very much Johannes for this jewel of software :)

This program is very nice. Making mountains with the isolines is kinda tricky. I'm still a noob in GC2 xD. I used to work with the brush settings of GC1, but I'll get that touch within time. Too bad my computer specs are a little limited, but the terrains generated there work very well in Max, as well as the incredibly detailed Normal Maps. Way to go guys! Thank you ^^

And "IS" there something coming next???
I'm really truly hoping for a much better and more closely related to, if not completely, a real time rotating viewport.
That manually setting those number values and like that to get the posision right for the camera, whoa, not horrible or anything like that, but sure takes a lot more out of your creative thoughts time ;)
