Hello everyone, i have been learning how to use geocontrol textureing features recently and its very powerful and easy to use. However i finding that 4096x4096 for textures isnt large enough. Is there a feature to render out the texture at a higher resolution (minimum of 8192, preferably bigger) or perhaps and option to render it out in several tiles that i can peice together in photoshop to create the final texture? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

Hello Shadowkiller,
I am sorry, but I am not able to help you. In GC2 it is only possible to export with max 4096 points.
The best is, that you export with GC2 and that photoshop would change it.

Hi Johaness,
The problem with scale up the maps on ANY paint application it is that you introduce artifacts when you are upscaling more than a 150%. You are suggesting here a 200% of upscaling.
As well makes me wonder if you "hard coded" the values for the image sizes that you can create on GC2 on the source code and they will need to be changed manually on it on key places, or if instead you are taking them from a list of values and it will be a matter to add a new value, (8192 in this case) to that list and recompile GC2

Thank you for your reply. Im just gonna have to find another way to do it. 4096 just is not high enough resolution for games. We are using cryengine2 and we have our terrains set up so 1 pixel = 1 meter ingame. (smallest you can go) I would probably need a resolution of 8192 at the least to get the results i need. 16384x16384 would be even better.
P.S. This is for the color map (shaders) only. 4096 is good enough for the greyscale heightmap. Also, the abilty to import as use textures instead of solid colors for terrain colors would also be an amazing feature.

Hmmm... I like alll the suggestions you are wishing for here.
Would be nice for some other uses too, though I rarely need them as much as that engine would need them, and BTW, I happen to ove the Crysis serries, though I have no clue what game you are making with the engine, but thats the best engine I've seen in years.
Maybe if there was some way to let the program output larger sizes by doing that bit with splitting them up into quarter parts or something like that?
It does that already anyway, so maybe it wouod be possible to crank that up a notch?

Have you tried a program like Genuine Fractals to increase the size? 200% is nothing for that program. It is made by onOne software. http://www.ononesoftware.com It is a great program. I have used and written reviews on it since version 3 or 4. If you would like to read a review, go to my website of perpetualvisions.com.
Blowup by Alien Skin is another program. They are slightly different with similar results. It is excellent, also. http://www.alienskin.com

you are suppose to use alpha maps/splatmaps , not a big single texture. the problem is no one seems to know if they are supported. are they, all the questions asking about it has been unanswered.
