image overlay

Hi Johannes, sorry this is not strictly a GeoControl question but it arises from the new image overlay feature.
I'm having trouble with importing a semi transparent image. It arises from me not understanding how to create one in Photoshop. :( I've set the alpha channel to various shades of grey but it makes no difference.

If you can't help, I'll have to hop over to a PS forum and ask there.

Does it have to be a .PNG because i think .PNGs are common for alpha channels. In photoshop you have to save as a .PNG with a opacity of 50% in your layer window. That or a .TIFF with the save transparency option check marked while still saving the layer opacity at 50%.

when I create it with Fireworks and PS, the mask has to be for the layer, not additional alphachannel. I also need some time, to get it work.

Thanks, for your help. Criss's png suggestion worked. :) I did try a tiff yesterday- I got it to show but couldn't alter the opacity.
